Halloween Foods Dog’s Should Avoid

Costumes, candy, parties, and an abundance of delectable treats are all part of Halloween. Even tho we enjoy treating our pets to Halloween treats, many seasonal favorites might be harmful to them.

Halloween is a great time to keep a close eye on what your dog gets into because of candy bowls, party munchies, and curious pups sniffing around the kitchen. At BARF World, we think dogs should have healthful, species-appropriate treats that are also delightful.

Here are three Halloween treats that you should avoid giving your dog, along with suggested BARF World substitutes.

1. Chocolate

One of the most popular foods that dogs should stay away from is chocolate. Dogs cannot process theobromine and caffeine as well as people can. Baking and dark chocolate might be particularly hazardous due to their increased amounts.

Watch out for:

Chocolate bars, brownies, cookies, chocolate-covered candy, cocoa powder, and unattended trick-or-treat bags.

Treat Them Instead:

Give your dog BARF World Turkey Heart Snacks instead of candy. While humans gobble up the candy bowl, your dog will have something exciting to do with these protein-rich goodies.

2. Sugar-Free Candy & Xylitol

Xylitol, a sweetener that poses a serious risk to dogs, may be present in sugar-free gum, candies, baked goods, and other products. Serious health issues can arise from even comparatively tiny doses.

Keep sugar-free items securely out of reach and always read ingredient labels.

Treat Them Instead:

For a simple, meaty treat free of the sweet components present in human candies, reach for BARF World Chicken Breast Snacks.

3. Grapes & Raisins

Dogs may be poisoned by grapes and raisins, which could lead to major kidney issues. Foods for Halloween parties, such as trail mix, biscuits, breads, and snack mixes, can easily contain raisins.

Treat Them Instead:

Add BARF World Salmon Sprinkles to their bowl to make it more dog-friendly. They're a simple way to transform meals into a unique Halloween treat.

4. Candy & Sugary Treats

Your dog shouldn't eat candy, even if it doesn't include xylitol or chocolate. Candy wrappers can become a choking hazard or create an intestinal blockage if consumed, and excessive amounts of sugar and fat can disturb the digestive system.

Even if your dog is very persuasive, keep that trick-or-treat bucket out of reach.

Treat Them Instead:

Give them a dog-specific product, such as Beef Liver Snacks or BARF World Lamb Hearts. In any case, your dog will find real flesh far more thrilling than a piece of candy!

5. Onions & Garlic

Dogs may be harmed by onions, garlic, chives, and similar substances. Dips, sauces, seasoned meats, pizza, and other foods containing onion or garlic powder are frequently served during Halloween parties, making it simple for dogs to unintentionally get into something they shouldn't.

Treat Them Instead:

Keep your pup occupied during the party with a BARF World chew such as a Beef Pizzle,Trachea Tube, or Elk Antler.

6. Cooked Bones

Avoid giving your dog bone-in party dishes like ribs and chicken wings. Cooked bones might splinter and become brittle, which could result in choking or digestive tract injury.

Cooked leftover bones and raw feeding are two different things. If you're feeding your pet raw, be sure the goods are the right size and specifically designed for them.

Treat Them Instead:

Stick with trusted raw-feeding options from BARF World rather than handing over scraps from the Halloween table.

7. Fatty & Greasy Party Foods

Your dog's digestive system may be irritated by rich foods such as pizza, fried dishes, buttery snacks, and fatty meat scraps. Pancreatitis and other more severe digestive issues may also be aggrevated by extremely fatty meals.

Their stomach will appreciate you avoiding the table leftovers, but those puppy-dog eyes can be difficult to refuse.

Treat Them Instead:

For a healthy, species-appropriate supper, BARF World Frozen Raw Patties or Chubs can help them stick to their regular routine, even when people are celebrating.

8. Unbaked Dough

Fermentation can result in alcohol, and raw yeast dough might swell inside a dog's stomach. When making Halloween treats, keep rising dough and unbaked goods out of the reach of curious noses.

Choose dog-appropriate goodies that you know are made for them rather than sharing baked goods from humans.

Make Their Halloween Delicious…The BARF World Way

You don't have to deny your dog Halloween goodies. Selecting dog-specific treats is crucial; don't share what's in the human candy bowl.

Use BARF World favorites like these to make your dog's own Halloween treat stash:

  • Turkey Heart Snacks
  • Chicken Breast Snacks
  • Beef Liver Snacks
  • Lamb Hearts
  • Salmon Sprinkles
  • Freeze-Dried Nuggets
  • Beef Pizzles
  • Trachea Tubes
  • Elk Antlers
  • Frozen Raw Patties & Chubs

Your four-legged family members can enjoy more treats and fewer tricks on Halloween with a little preparation.

Contact your veterinarian or an animal poison-control agency right away if you suspect your dog has consumed chocolate, xylitol, grapes, raisins, or any other potentially hazardous food.

Keep It Raw. Keep It Real. Keep Halloween Dog-Friendly.

This Halloween, put actual, healthy food in your dog's bowl and let the people have the sweets.

Get raw meals, snacks, toppers, and chews at BARF World that your dog will genuinely be thrilled to discover in their Halloween "treat bag."
